The Keffiyeh (pronounced “Kufiya” in Palestine) continues to hold deep and symbolic value, and serves as an icon of resistance, struggle and freedom for the Palestinian people. 

The Hirbawi Keffiyeh is handmade using a classic cross-stitching technique honed over generations. The Keffiyeh is traditionally woven on two layers, the “base”, and the “pattern” or “flower” ( وردة) in Arabic. Beyond its unmatched quality, the Keffiyeh maintains its original functionality:

  • Keeping you cool in hot climates under direct sunlight.
  • Effective shielding against dust and fast-blowing winds.
  • Excellent moisture-wicking properties, directing sweat and moisture away from the skin.

The Keffiyeh now comes in a variety of colours and patterns that are evolving alongside Palestinian culture. Today, a wide selection of designs are available, based on historic landmarks, and elements of Palestinian culture, as well as the traditional staple Keffiyeh patterns that are known and loved around the world.

Shipping Costs

All our products are made in Palestine and shipped to our fulfillment center in Portugal. From there, each order is dispatched by registered mail with a tracking number, and final delivery is handled by the local postal service in your country.

For orders outside the EU, customs duties are uncommon but may apply depending on the local laws of the destination country. If they do, it is the customer’s responsibility to handle any related procedures or payments.

If you are located in Palestine or the occupied Palestinian territories, please contact us before placing an order. We deliver locally using a transport company, and payment can be made upon delivery.

Shipping & Delivery Times

All orders are prepared and dispatched from our warehouses in Portugal and the USA.

During restocks or high-demand periods, we may need 1 to 3 weeks to dispatch your order , depending on the size of the restock and the number of orders being prepared.

Once your order has been dispatched, the estimated delivery time is:

  • European Union and USA: 3 to 5 working days
  • All other countries: 7 to 21 working days

Please note that these are estimated delivery times after dispatch. In rare cases, postal services or customs procedures may cause delays, and delivery may take up to 30 to 45 working days after dispatch.

For orders shipped outside the European Union, your parcel may be stopped by customs in the destination country. If this happens, the local customs office or postal service may contact you to request additional information, a declaration, or payment of local taxes, duties, or handling fees.

These charges are not included in our prices or shipping fees and are the responsibility of the receiver. Please follow the tracking updates carefully and respond to any request from your local customs or postal service as soon as possible , to avoid delays or the parcel being returned.

Tracking

Once your order is shipped, you'll receive:

  • A tracking number by email
  • A separate email with your invoice, which may be required for customs clearance outside the EU

We ship by registered international mail from Portugal via CTT (Portugal’s postal service). Your 13-character tracking number can be used to track your parcel on the CTT website and, thanks to international postal agreements, in most countries you can also use the same tracking number on your local postal service’s website.

Due to high demand and limited supply, each order is limited to one kufiya.

The story

Jerusalem, the Heart of Hearts

Jerusalem, or Al Quds (القدس), is central to the Palestinian story and one of the world’s oldest cities. Historically, its economy relied mainly on religious pilgrims, being distant from major ports like Yafa and Gaza.

Both Palestinians and Israelis claim Jerusalem as their capital. The 1948 Partition Plan proposed dividing the city between a Palestinian and a Jewish state. Palestinians rejected the plan, leading Israel to control West Jerusalem and declare itself a Jewish state. Over time, Israel gained full control of both West and East Jerusalem and much of the Arab land designated for a future Palestinian state.

Initially, Zionism distanced itself from Jerusalem, especially the Old City, because it symbolized the diaspora and Palestinian identity, and because the city’s Christian and Islamic holy sites complicated the idea of an exclusively Jewish state. However, after the right-wing Likud party rose to power, Jerusalem became a focal point of fervent Jewish nationalism, with growing settler populations.

Today, Palestinians make up about thirty percent of Jerusalem’s population but face severe inequalities. Their identification cards are frequently revoked, and police often suppress dissent or Palestinian nationalism. Palestinians in Jerusalem live as marginalized minorities in their own land. From this city—the heart of the Palestinian narrative—new leaders and movements continue to emerge.
