Crafted from genuine full-grain leather in Palestine, the Safar Passport Holder offers a primary compartment to securely fit your passport, four dedicated card slots, and an additional open section ideal for extra travel documents, cash, or a second passport. The cover features the Palestine Sunbird (Cinnyris osea), the national bird of Palestine, soaring with open wings above the words “Freedom Passport.” This motif is a reinterpretation of the current Palestinian passport, where the sunbird, a symbol of freedom and hope, replaces the standing eagle.

Since the Israeli occupation in 1967, the Palestinian people have faced restrictions on their freedom of movement. By choosing to carry this passport holder and exercising your born-right to travel, you are acknowledging the State of Palestine and supporting the fundamental human right to travel without restrictions.

The story

Palestine Sunbird & the Freedom of Movement

The Palestine Sunbird (Cinnyris osea), beautifully featured on the cover, is much more than a bird in Palestinian culture. As the national bird of Palestine, it’s a cherished symbol of resilience, beauty, and hope. This sunbird, with its vibrant colors and incredible adaptability, thrives across Palestine’s diverse landscapes—from the coastlines to the rugged hills. Depicting it on this passport holder captures the Palestinian spirit: graceful, determined, and undeterred by life’s challenges. Unlike the formal eagle that graces the current Palestinian passport, the sunbird on this cover appears with wings outstretched above the words “Freedom Passport,” embodying a vision of unrestricted movement and the universal right to freedom.

For many Palestinians, movement is a complicated reality, deeply tied to the layers of documentation required to travel and access different areas. The Sumud Stories Safar Passport Holder serves as a reminder of the complex realities and restrictions on Palestinian’s right to movement. Its spacious compartments, card slots, and additional pocket offer practical, organized space for the multiple forms of documentation that many Palestinians must carry. But this passport holder is more than just an accessory; it’s a quiet yet powerful symbol of a basic human right—the right to move freely, a right often denied to Palestinians within their own cities and communities. By carrying it, you hold not only a practical item but also a meaningful piece of Palestinian heritage—an emblem of solidarity with Palestinians and their enduring hope for a future where movement is unrestricted and freedom is shared.
